Advances in Tourism Research 2008: Keynote speaker COOPER, Chris Coming from the Nottingham University Business School, Professor Chris Cooper, a leader in professionalising the tourism and hospitality industries, has been Head of School of Tourism, University of Queensland. Professor Cooper's areas of specialist knowledge include internationalisation of tourism, tourism management and education. Professor Cooper is widely published and has worked on projects in every region of the world, for countries ranging from China, India, and Egypt to Kenya, Hungary, the US and UK. These projects have encompassed research, surveys, publications, consultation to industry and speaking appointments. He has provided several training and executive courses for the World Tourism Organisation. Professor Cooper is on the editorial team of many journals and publications including Tourism, Culture & Communication; Journal of Ecotourism; China Tourism Research; and Current Issues in Tourism of which he is Co-Editor. He has also co-produced academic text books for tourism teaching including the recently published 'Tourism Principles & Practice' and 'Worldwide Destinations'. Professor Cooper is the First Vice Chairman of the World Tourism Organisation Education Council, as well as a member of the Pacific Asia Travel Association and the TEDQUAL Assessment Committee for the World Tourism Organisation. |
