Advances in Tourism Research 2008: Location

The Conference will be hosted by the University of Aveiro, Portugal.

Due to the high number of delegates registered for both Conferences (see TL2008), the event will no longer take place at the Management Department. Instead, it will be hosted at the city's Conference Centre (1,5 km from the University).

Getting to Aveiro

Train: The city is more easily reached by rail than bus. There are ten departures a day from Lisbon's Santa Apolonia Station on InterCity trains that take two hours and thirty minutes and cost about EUR 16 for 2nd class seats and EUR 24 for first class seats. Travelling south from Porto, fares are about EUR 10. The journey takes approximately forty minutes (Note: You can save 10% by buying a return ticket. Children under 12 years of age and people aged 65 or over receive a 50% discount).

Car: From Lisbon take the A1 highway north. It takes about 3 hours.

Bus: On the bus from Lisbon, it takes about 4 hours and costs around EUR 13,50.

In Aveiro, the city's Conference Centre is located downtown, close to the main hotels, shopping centres and just 1,5 Km away from the University. It's an emblematic building that was adapted from an old ceramics factory.
